Montsweag clinches Bath Ripken U10 title

BATH — Montsweag Roadhouse clinched the Bath 10U Cal Ripken championship by defeating Sunnybrook Village 15-2 last week.

The Roadhouse played well throughout the tournament never losing a game and were extremely strong offensively both with their bats and aggressive base running.

The offense racked up nine hits in this four-inning game with Wade Bradford swinging for three singles, Brogan Shaw a double and single and Brenton Cahill, Gavin Phillips, Ethan Upham and Campbell Wyman a single each.

Shaw took ball 4 for a walk in the second inning, headed to first base and never stopped running until he slid into home plate for a run.

Shaw and Upham continued standout pitching for Montsweag and combined to strike out 10, while giving up no hits.

Trevor Hanna went the distance on the mound for Sunnybrook, striking out two and also made the defensive play of the game when he threw out a runner at home to prevent a run.
