The 11th Annual Brunswick Outdoor Arts Festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Brunswick. This event, hosted by the Brunswick Downtown Association, is designed to celebrate and foster an appreciation of the arts.

The festival has sold out of juried artist space on Maine Street in Brunswick. Limited spaces are still available for demo artisans, crafters and gourmet food products to display on the Town Mall.

This juried, fine arts show includes more than 100 artists and artisans who will display and sell their work along the sidewalks of Maine Street and on the Town Mall.

Artists will show their work in mediums including jewelry, fiber, ceramics, photography, painting and mixed media.

Art festival co-organizer and BDA Board member, Keith Garovoy, has been involved in the event from the initial planning stages. “This year will be the best ever annual Brunswick Outdoor Arts Festival,” said Garovoy. “One hundred juried artists on the sidewalks of main street, roving musicians and street performers everywhere. Demo artisans and activities for children on the Town Mall. A great family day in Brunswick.”

“The 2017 show will to be our biggest and the best.” Roxane Rathje, festival co-organizer, said. “We received many more applications than we could accept. Being a juried art show, this allowed us to be very selective about the quality and variety this festival will offer. It promises to have something for everyone.”

The Brunswick Outdoor Arts Festival includes a variety of live music at the front of the Bank of America building on Maine Street. Musicians inlude JimmyJo & the Jumbol'Ayuhs, Barefoot and Downeast Soul Connection. Roving musicians playing bluegrass, folk, old timey and Americana will perform from noon to 4 p.m.

Art demonstrations will include fish carving, iron forging, wood turning, jewelry making and quilting, henna art and more. The festival offers children's activities such as face painting, balloon art and crafts.
